"Comfort" food
I just got back from the DVD release party for "Too Close for Comfort." It was held at Rage in West Hollywood and it was a lot of fun. Met up with my friends Jon and Jeff for the occasion. The night began with a screening of the pilot episode of "Too Close for Comfort." Next up on the viewing platter, JM J Bullock's first episode as Monroe. In the middle of the episode, the show's surviving cast members (Nancy Dussault, Lydia Cornell, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, and JM J Bullock) made their entrance to watch along with the rest of us. Soon after, we had a chance to have our DVDs signed by them and take pics with them. They were VERY nice and they looked great! Lydia Cornell looked especially fabulous... It was cool seeing the episodes again. The show hasn't been in regular reruns in a while and the last time I saw the show was when my friend Brian brought a tape over with a couple of episodes including the pilot.
In the midst of all of this, I finally got to meet Keith, a very cool friend of Jon and Jeff's that Jeff had been trying to get to meet me for a while. Ahh, how the power of Cosmic Cow brings people together! Much like Jeff, Jon, and me, Keith proved to be quite the pop culture connoisseur. Hooray!
All in all, it was a fun night and a great way to start the week. What? It's only Monday?! Tuesday has a couple of cool things in store for me...But alas, that will have to wait until tomorrow...For now, here are the pics of the DVD party:

Ya know, in watching the episodes screened at the event, I think there should be a drinking game for "Too Close for Comfort." Every time Ted Knight bellows his lines two octaves lower than his normal voice, take a drink. Every time he does it while saying, "MONROE!" take two drinks!

Well, everyone at the nightclub, including the cast members of "TCFC", were looking an episode from the Complete First Season DVD box set on a display bank of large-sized TV monitors that were mounted overhead. Video coverage of the reception party, as well as a reunion interview with three of its cast members, was later incorporated in the Complete Second Season "TCFC" DVD box set released in June 2005.
