As the first week of the year closes...
Some random thoughts...
- New Year's Eve...went out for lunch with my friend Drew. Braved the rain and went to the CPK near the Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood. I did a double take when I saw Nick Carter waiting to get seated. We got seated before him. Heeee...Mr. Carter didn't look too great... :-Z
- Spent the New Year's Eve with Ted, Larry, and the rest of the gang. Endured and sometimes triumphed in a three-hour marathon session of "Karaoke Revolution Party." I now have "Take on Me" ingrained in my brain. Damn you, A-ha!
- A big YAY for "Scrubs'" return. That show puts a big smile on my face every time I watch it. :-D
- As much as I wanted to put together a "Top 5" list for 2005, I have to say, that I really couldn't come up with a "Top 5 CD" list. A lot of the CDs I bought were pleasant, but nothing really stood out for me last year. Most of the CDs I got were decent, but not great...at least nothing of the caliber of the Scissor Sisters debut CD or The Killers' "Hot Fuss." Ben Folds' "Songs For Silverman" was a nice CD, but it needed a bit more kick to it. Paul McCartney's new CD was definitely more solid than "Driving Rain," but I wasn't clamoring to listen to it again and again. And The Click Five's debut had some good songs, but again, it didn't get much mileage on my iPod.
- In fact, the CDs I was giving the most play were back catalog titles...Klaatu's debut album, the follow-up "Hope," and "Sir Army Suit"; Billy Joel's "My Lives" box set, and my favorite re-release of the year, Elton John's "Captain Fantastic" deluxe set.
- There are still a lot of movies I want to see that I haven't yet..."Brokeback Mountain," "King Kong," and "The Producers."
- Pleasantly surprised by "Deal or No Deal's" performance. Even more surprised by how good Howie Mandel was...
- Got the sheet music to Styx's "Mr. Roboto"...Watch out everybody... :-)
- One of the first purchases of the new year...The "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" plug and play game...it was a tad disappointing especially after hitting a question I had already seen on my SECOND playing of the thing. GRRR...
- Want to help out with a little project I'm doing for my birthday? If so, E-mail me.
